Trip Notes
| I last visited Crater Lake decades ago, so it's high time I return as an adult to truly appreciate its grandeur. |
|
Day 1
Book your hotel early as this is a popular lodge. It has its own dining room as well (with a view of the lake to boot!).
|
|
Day 2
During the brief summertime window, one magnificent day typically follows another. For visitors, these few months provide the best opportunity for a comfortable visit. Many interpretive programs are offered which encourage a deeper understanding of the lake and the park. Hiking and camping are popular activities. Fishing for trout and salmon in the lake is also a favorite pastime. And for park staff, this short season provides the only access to numerous projects long buried under the snow.
You won't be able to do all the hikes listed here...they're included for you to choose which best suits your desire & stamina level.

Day 3
Traveling out the southern entrance, stop at Fort Klamath for a glimpse of our military history, then recharge at Applebee's before heading home.
