Eric the Red Guest House is in a typical Icelandic-style large house in a great location near the main Cathedral (Hallgrímskirkja) and just a few minutes' walk from the nightlife, restaurants and shopping on Laugavegur Street. The house is quite charming and comfortable and my room, a single, was comfortable but very plain. The owners are pleasant and informative. The only downsides were that there is no sign on the house so you have to find the street number. Also, I took a tour with Icelandic Tours and they were not familiar with the guest house so it took them a while to find it. And Flybus did not pick up there so I had to take a taxi early in the morning to their hub about 10 minutes away.
