Hāna is a census-designated place (CDP) in Maui County, Hawaii, United States. The population was 709 at the 2000 census. Hāna is located at the eastern end of the island of Maui and is one of the most isolated towns in the state. It is reached mainly via the Hāna Highway, a long, winding, 52 mile long highway along Maui's northern shore. Near Hāna are several swimming holes in the Haleakalā National Park. Hāna has a small jetty and an airport with regular service.
GeographyHāna is located at (20.770017, -155.994179). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.5 square miles (9.0 km²), of which, 2.2 square miles (5.6 km²) of it is land and 1.3 square miles (3.4 km²) of it (37.64%) is water.
Interesting facts"Hana Bay Rum" is not made in Hāna but by "Hawaiian Distillers" in California. According to locals, it was originally distilled in Maui but the company went bankrupt and when the brand was purchased, production was moved to the mainland. The rum is not actually produced on the US mainland, but in the Virgin Islands. It is imported to California in bulk, then bottled in glass imported from either Mexico or China. Prior plans to bring this product back to Maui for bottling have been disrupted by the Chapter 7 bankruptcy of Sandwich Isles Distilling.

Visitors to Hana can still purchase a local rum product, however, at the venerable Hasegawa's General Store which carries the full line of Haleakala Distillers rums, including Maui Dark Rum, Maui Gold Rum, Braddah Kimo's Extreme 155 rum and Maui Platinum Rum. In the March of 1768 Hawaii's future queen Kaahumanu was born in a cave not far from Hana on the island of Maui.Points of interest Kahanu Garden Kaia Ranch Tropical Botanical GardensExternal linksHana Bay Review
