The Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the most traveled in our nation's National Park System. The scenic thoroughfare is 470 miles long and zigzags through the mountains of the Shenandoah to the Great Smoky Mountains in Western North Carolina. The parkway overlaps Asheville at US 25, 70 and 74 and is popular with both motorists and bicyclists. Some of the more popular stops in the area are Linville Gorge (milepost 316.4), Craggy Gardens (milepost 364.2) and Graveyard Fields (milepost 418.8). It is open year-round if the is weather permitting.

Step back in time and walk the old brick sidewalks of Biltmore Village. Enjoy shopping at the many unique and charming shops that make up the village. When you are ready for a bite to eat, there are restaurants to suit everyone's taste, from quaint coffee shops to the roomy, festive Mexican fare of LaPaz. This village sits at the entrance of the Biltmore House Estate and beckons to be discovered. There is even a museum that houses the history of the village through maps, photos and more.

Known for scenes shot from The Last of the Mohicans, this area boasts of waterfalls and scenic views galore. Hiking trails covering 3.5 miles surround you with breathtaking views, including a spectacular 404-foot waterfall. The top of Chimney Rock itself is accessible by stairways and bridges, as well as a 26-story elevator that was built directly inside the mountain. The admission fees are $14 for adults, $6 for children(6-15yrs) and children under 6yrs are admitted free.

Grandfather Mountain is the highest peak in the Blue Ridge Mountains and is a truly rustic and fun adventure that includes a swinging bridge that sways a mile above the valley floor. Be sure to bring your camera to capture your treasured experience. There is also a museum filled with history and facts. Closed for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The admission fees are $14 for adults (13-59yrs), $12 for senior citizens (60yrs and above), $6 for children (4-12yrs) and under 4yrs is free.

Kids can spend the day at this nature center learning and having fun! Along with deer, foxes and bears, the most recent additions are the red and grey wolves and the bobcats and cougars. More recent improvements also include the "hands on" Nature Lab and Educational Farm where kids can pet a corn snake or even hold a turtle. Closed on Christmas, Thanksgiving, Martin Luther King Day and New Years Day. Credit cards are not accepted.

The Biltmore Estate is its own world and every summer it creates a concert series with names to equal that of the "big house." The Biltmore House South Terrace is the intimate setting for concerts which take place every Friday and Saturday evening throughout the month of August, and Labor Day. Past performers include Joni Mitchell, Harry Connick, Sr. and Bruce Hornsby. By reservation only.

The constant 52-degree temperature makes this an enjoyable attraction even in the heat of summer. The interesting history, and mystery surrounding the only caverns in North Carolina will make this a memorable adventure. A definite geological wonderland, be sure to bring your camera, a jacket and your curiosity. Guided tours leave every few minutes, so there is ample opportunity to catch a tour. Admission: $6 Adults; $4 Children (ages 5-12); $4.50 Seniors (62 and over).

"Carved by the grinding of water-borne sediment over thousands of years", these three separate pools have their own individual uniqueness and their own beautiful waterfalls. The pools were first opened in 1916 and are surrounded by lush mountains and beautiful scenery. They are open from April to October and picnic tables and hiking trails are also available on site.
